APP PRIVACY POLICY

This privacy policy covers all aspects of data usage of the software application LD-Log, including its variants Geo-Log and Sail-Log as well as its trial version LD-Log FREE for mobile devices, all hereafter referred to as ‘application’ or ‘app’. The application was created by A.Wedemeyer, referred to as ‘developer’. The application is intended to be used by the end user, referred to as ‘user’.

With the application, the user is able to document their travel routes by means of GPS tracking. They may attach text and image information to recorded waypoints in order to create a comprehensive trip documentation for themselves. The application includes a map view as well as outdoor navigation tools such as a compass.

In order to run properly, the app stores the data recorded or entered by the user on their device. Some data may also be transferred over the internet. This privacy policy provides a detailed explanation of what happens with the user’s data.

By using the application, you agree that your personal information will be handled as described in this policy.

The developer reserves the right to make changes to this privacy policy at any time for any reason. Whenever a change occurs, the date of the “Last update” header will be adjusted accordingly. The developer invites you to actively check for updates of this privacy policy.

This privacy policy is independent of the policies used by the third parties involved with this app, e.g. the app download site or the online services used by the app (e.g. online map tile providers). Please take a look at their respective policies.

GENERAL

User privacy is extremely important to the developer. In fact, one of the primary reasons for developing the application was to create a GPS tracking tool that offers maximum privacy.

SENSITIVE DATA

The application is not interested in any personal user information whatsoever, therefore:

• The application does not collect any personal identifiable information.
• The application does not use any third-party libraries that may collect personal information in the background. This includes libraries that show ads, third party usage statistic libraries, etc.
• Although the application may retrieve the user's location, it is important to note that the application will never transfer location-based information anywhere automatically except if the user chooses to do so explicitly, e.g. by using one of the 'send' features of the application to send their position to a third person.

DATA STORED ON THE USER’S DEVICE

The app stores trip data, settings, and all the data needed to function properly on the user’s device. The developer has no access to this data.

DATA TRANSFERRED TO EXTERNAL SERVICES

Manually transferred data
The app provides the user with several options for sending data via different networks ('send' options). These include the options to send trip data and export files or current geo position via email, SMS, Google Drive, etc. The procedures for doing so are clearly outlined within the app. This privacy policy does not cover the cases where the user sends data using the aforementioned third-party mechanisms.

Automatically collected data
The application may automatically collect certain anonymous information for two reasons only: to ascertain license validity and to gather usage statistics that may help to improve the application. This information may include, but is not limited to, anonymous licensing data as provided by the Google Play licensing service, the type of mobile device being used, info about the user’s operating system, device ID, and limited information about the way the application is being used. This information is used to improve the app and quickly resolve errors.

Automatically collected data when viewing online maps
While viewing online maps, information may automatically be collected by the chosen online map tile provider (e.g. OpenStreetMap tile server) – a standard procedure with URL requests in an internet browser for example. This information may include, but may not be limited to, your IP address, the type of application you use (this Application) and the requested map tile URLs. For privacy information regarding the downloading of map tiles, refer to the privacy policies of the respective map tile providers.

USAGE OF COLLECTED DATA

The data the application collects and transfers is used strictly for license verification and app improvement purposes. ‘Improvement’ refers to changes to the source code of the application. No personal identifiable information is collected. This information is not used to contact the user, for marketing purposes etc. and the collected data is not shared with anyone, legal requirements excluded.
